Website http://masinator117.wix.com/sam-young

Above is my Animation Showreel. The showreel covers my work with Lego Stop Motion Animation, if you are interested into looking further into my animations they should all be on my Youtube Channel. I have been doing Lego stop motion since I was 12 and have been making Lego animation films since. Each one I make I improve my skills and the way I animate and set up the animation. I also have a lot of experience with Adobe Photoshop, Premier, After Effects and Illustrator.
Below is a showreel of all my work I have done in my media course.

P5 University Personal Statement

University Personal Statement

Red Door Studios is an Animation, Photography, Illustration and Film studio situated in Burton-on-Trent about 20 miles from Stoke-on-Trent.

Above is my offers that I have accepted for University, with Staffordshire being my firm choice and Southampton being my insurance choice.

P4 Careers Flow Diagram

Short Term
My short term goal is to finnish of my A Level courses at Long Road Sixth Form college and studying animation at university.

Medium Term
My medium term goal is to study animation at university, gaining experience and skills on how to make stop motion puppets and how to build upon and improve my stop motion skills. I also hope to gain some experience and skills into different types of animation like 3D and 2D animation whilst at university.
Long Term
My long term goal is to finish my animation course at university and apply as animator at Aardman Animations. Whilst at Aardman I hope to be a big part of animating many of their films and shows. Later down the line in my career I hope to be a big part of Aardman and maybe even create my own animation studio.

Plan
My overall plan is too finish my courses in A Level Photography and Media Diploma course at Long Road Sixth Form College. After this I hope to be going to be studying Stop Motion Animation and Puppet Making at Staffordshire University and if I don't get in to Stafford I will do Animation at Southampton Solent University Instead.

Contingency Plan
Incase I don't go to university I will look around for animation jobs, apprenticeships and internships whilst still progressing my animation skills and working on films at home.

Improvements
Things that I need and would like to improve on before and whilst I am at University. One of these is my skills with photoshop and after effects, I have a bit of experience and rough guide with the programs but not a lot. I would really like to improve my skills on the programs and learn how to do more professional and industry effects and edits with them. I have quite a bit of experience and skill with my animating but I feel I still really need to improve. I feel the way I light the sets and the figures is alright but isn't very professional looking. I also feel i need to improve the way I animate the figures I feel they need to be more fluent in the way the move and interact with each other. Going to University can help me aprove upon these skills, but if I dont go to University I can improve these skills by teaching my self through online tutorials or get work experience/job at a animation studio.

Resources
There are a few resources that I still need to be able to do my work professionally at University or at Home. The main thing I need is a professional animation software like Dragon Frame, this will allow me to get use software that the professionals use and hopefully it will improve the way I animate. Another thing that can improve my animations is getting some high level studio lights for my sets, with these they should improve the way I light my animations and improve the way they look. The final thing that I think will make my animations better is investing in some puppet armatures and making my own puppets like Paranorman and Wallace and Gromit, I would also need to invest in some very expensive equipment to make the Paranorman puppets so as a starting block it would be better to make some clay animation puppets like Wallace and Gromit first.

P3 Personal Resources Audit

One of my biggest strengths is my skills and experience with Lego Stop Motion I have been making Lego animation films since I was 12 and each one I make improves and looks better than the last. With my wide range collection of Lego, mini figures and bricks I am able to create and work on a animation quite quickly. I take the photos with my Canon EOS 1100D, I then copy the images ont to my Macbook pro organising them and slowly creating the animation in Premier or Dragon frame. After this I then import the final animation into after effects playing around with the colour correction and adding effects.
Some of my weakness are with Photoshop and After effects, I have a bit of experience and rough guide of the programs but not a lot. I would really like to improve my skills on the programs and learn how to do more professional and industry effects and edits with them.
I also dont have many links withe animation community and Im hoping university will help me create and develop some of these links, but if not I could looking or animation apprenticeships or work experience in the UK and maybe the US. I could also try contacting some  Lego Stop Motion animators on youtube to see if they have any work or are interested in give me some advice and tips.

P2 Evaluate Your Own Qualities

I can work well in a group and on my own, I can follow instructions and work to my best abilities to get the task finished and completed on time. When I am passionate about the work I focus on the work and get it done as soon as possible and my main focus is to get it done.
I have a wide range of skills with film and animation. I have a range of skills and experience in Adobe Premier and Photoshop with editing video and images, but my main skills and achievements are with stop motion animation especially Lego Stop Motion Animations. I have been doing Lego Stop Motion films since 2009 and every film I have made has improved my animation and editing skills to make the films better and more industry looking, I still feel that I need to improve.
My main achievements again are in making stop motion animation films. I have made many films
over the years manly concentrating on Lego Stop Motion Film. For my BTEC Art I made a 7 minutes long Lego Animation about Zombies, it took me about 5 months to plan, shoot and edit.
I have a wide range of experience with Lego Stop Motion but would like to go into other forms of stop motion like Puppet Making and Clay Animation. I also have experience with Graphic Productions from designing and making my own board game and all the techniques and wording Graphic Designhers use. I am also interested in making live action films as well as animated films. From my work in Media I have a wide range of skills in using Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator and Premier.
In the future I would love to do stop motion animation for Aardman or Laika or even set up my own animation studio.

There is a great range of things that I need and would like to improve on. This is one of the things I really want yo improve and make the movement look industry stand. I also dont have many links withe animation community and Im hoping university will help me create and develop some of these links.

Shooting People have a few animation jobs but they dont have much detail or specify what you have to do or what type of animation https://shootingpeople.org/production/work/criteria/1/Animation
